With cheer the angels did sing,
Of our glorious emergent king,
Born in a simple manger,
To be worshiped by all therein,
And all on this earthly plain,
From our sins he would save us,
Eternal life to give us,
But for now the infant king,
Born as man, incarnate God,
Lays in that cradle sweetly sleeping,
With prayer and praise,
In us a song of hope we raise,
For us man and our salvation,
